Let’s start with what we are not – we are not a club. We are the regional governing body for the Minnesota area.
The Greater Minnesota Speedskating Association (GMSA) represents speed skating in Minnesota, North Dakota, South Dakota, and parts of western Wisconsin.
The governing groups for our area are:
US Speedskating (National), GMSA (Regional) and various clubs (Local)
GMSA is a non-profit organization whose primary activity is the promotion and education of speedskating in the region.
The organization is responsible for securing ice time and officials (judges, timers, referees, clerks, starters, etc.) for regional and national meets, and addressing the needs of the various speedskating clubs who practice and compete on ice throughout the state.
GMSA conducts long track pack-style and metric races on weekends throughout the long track season at the Roseville Oval (November through February).
The Board of Directors meets monthly at the John Rose Oval. All GMSA members are welcome to attend. Every club can send two representatives to meetings (with voting privileges), and one skater representative.
Meeting dates for GMSA meetings through March 2021.
